About Artist

Paolo Marchetti

Paolo Marchetti is an Award and Grant winning independent photographer based in Rome, Italy. He has worked for thirteen years in the cinematographic and commercial industry along with the most authoritative Italian and foreigners directors of photography, (especially from US), covering each role in the Camera Dpt. Production Capabilities: In his photography Paolo has always paid particular attention to political and anthropological issues and has embarked upon a freelance career to focus on a combination of long-term personal projects / collaborations with Government Organizations, International Foundations and NGO’s and client assignments for corporate works and commercials. He has covered stories in Brazil, Argentine, Colombia, Central America, Cuba, Haiti, United States, Central and Eastern Europe, Central and Southern India, China, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Northern and Central Africa, etc. Editorials: His work has been published in international magazines such as L’Espresso, Internazionale, Vanity Fair, Marie Claire, 6MOIS, Sunday Times, British Journal of Photojournalism, The Guardian, Le Monde, Geo, Days Japan, Stern, Der Spiegel, Newsweek, CNN, New York Times, International Herald Tribune, Time Magazine, National Geographic US and many others. Prizes: Marchetti has been recognized several times with the “International Photography Award” and the “Grand Prix de Paris – PX3”, he won 10 consecutive times the “NPPA – Best of Photojournalism” and nine times the “PDN’s Award”. Also Marchetti received the following prizes: the “Sony WPO Award”, the “Getty Images Editorial Photography”, he was finalist at the “Leica Oskar Barnack Award”, eight Awards at the “POY – Picture of the Year”, three of which in the prestigious category “Photographer of the Year” and in 2016 Marchetti won the first place. Other Awards are the “American Photography Annual Book”, the “ANI Pix-Palace” in Perpignan, the “Leica Photographer Award”, the “SDN – Social Documentary Network”, the “Days Japan”, several times the “MIFA – Moscow International Foto Award”, several times the “Lens Culture”, he received the prestigious Grant by the “Alexia Foundation Grant”. In addiction Marchetti was finalist in the “Emerging Photographer Fund – Burn Award” and in the “Aftermath Project” and has achieved the “World Press Photo” in 2015…and many others. Paolo Marchetti Is represented by the american agency Getty Images in the short selection so named “Reportage by Getty Images”, he’s also represented by the agency “Verbatim” for commercials and corporate projects and lastly he is part of the exclusive selection of National Geographic photographers “The Photo Society”.
