Thomas Morel-Fort

Freelance photographer since 2016, Thomas Morel-Fort works mainly on long term documentary projects. Before devoting himself to photography, he studied at the Institut National Supérieur des Arts du Spectacle (INSAS) in Brussels and at the Sorbonne (degree in philosophy) and the Sorbonne Nouvelle (degree in cinema). Between 2013 and 2016 he worked as an employee of national newspapers. In 2015 he began his first long term project on Filipina domestic workers. For this investigation, he was hired undercover as a domestic worker alongside Donna, immersing himself for more than a month in the villa of a rich Libyan family on the French Riviera. The VISA D’OR Camille Lepage received at Visa pour l’Image in 2019 enabled him to travel to the Philippines to follow the families of the women he met in France. He has also been awarded with a Picture of the Year International (POYI) , a Istanbul Photo Award , a Siena International Photo Awards and he was a finalist in the World Report Award|Documenting Humanity in 2021. For his covering of the Bataclan attack in Paris 2015 he was finalist of the DAYS JAPAN INTERNATIONAL PHOTOJOURNALISM. While continuing to cover the news (Rohingya crisis, yellow vests movement, conflict in Ukraine) he began a duo work on the world of culture with a large format camera who was a winner of the national commission of the BNF ( French National Library).
