About Artist

Ronaldo Camara

A photographer with articles published in Der Spiegel, Washington Post, New York Times, The Globe, Paris Match and many others around the world, Ronaldo began his career in 1965, at TV Rio and in Brazil he worked for Manchete and O Cruzeiro, working in various areas. During this period he also worked as a freelancer for the first Brazilian men's magazine, FAIRPLAY, edited by Ziraldo. In 1970 he opened the Ronaldo Câmara Studio. For years he was a contributor to ELA in O GLOBO, then edited by Nina Chavs. Since then he has been taking photos for advertising, editorials, construction and architecture, and has published several books, including ARQUITETOS DO BRASIL, MARCAS DE VALOR and participated in ALMANAQUE DOS ANOS 70. He took so many aerial photos that he moved to California and became a helicopter pilot, and for 10 years he flew and photographed the Amazon. He was also a pilot for the film Moonraker, a James Bond film shot in Brazil, when he began to be called “Captain no trouble” by the film crew for not turning down any request to fly for the filming. He recently published O RETRATISTA, a collection of over 60 years of portraits of the most diverse Brazilian personalities, always in photos exclusively for his lens, as well as indigenous peoples and inhabitants of the Amazon. His latest book was CRONICAS DO MAR EM FRENTE about the 100 YEARS OF LEBLON. Despite his age - 80 years - he continues to work. “My main focus is people, I always try to capture the soul of the human being”.
