Ben Briand
Ben is known for his visually stunning and emotionally immersive storytelling. His award winning work spans commercials, short films, and art projects - blending cinematic beauty with deep human connections. In narrative filmmaking, Ben’s career began with the MTV film Hammer Bay, starring two-time Oscar nominee Jacki Weaver. His short film Apricot became a viral sensation, winning Best Narrative Film on Vimeo. He later earned his first of three Australian Director’s Guild nomination for Some Static Started, a surreal horror short. His coming-of-age noir Blood Pulls a Gun premiered at SXSW, was named one of the top 10 coming-of-age films of the 21st century by Raindance, and won Best Emerging Filmmaker at the Melbourne International Film Festival. The film was hailed as “seriously brilliant” by Huffington Post. On the commercial front, Ben has directed acclaimed campaigns for brands including Apple, Audi, Qantas, Asahi Beer, and Vogue China. His branded short film The Journey, telling the story of Brazilian ballet dancer Ingrid Silva, won a Cannes Silver Lion, a Gold for Best Direction at the Epica Awards, and the Grand Prix at the European Cristal Awards. His Apple campaign celebrating same-sex marriage was nominated for a Cannes Film Lion and won TV Campaign of the Year at the B&T Awards. Other projects have garnered accolades at Spikes, Clio, Phoenix Awards, and the New York Festivals. He has helmed projects featuring renowned talents such as Gal Gadot, Rose Byrne, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Odessa Young and Cate Blanchett.
