About Artist
Yesaya Danu
Yesaya Danuwihardja is an Indonesian visual storyteller driven by a desire to capture the quiet, often unnoticed moments that shape human experience. Since 2008, he has explored life across Indonesia through photography, working in portraits, events, travel, weddings, food, and editorial stories. He refined his craft under renowned mentors such as Penny De Los Santos, Bambi Cantrell, Joey Lawrence, Sue Bryce, Joel Grimes, and Vincent Laforet. Through their diverse lenses, he discovered photography as more than a visual craft; as a deeper way of seeing and listening. With a degree in Computerized Accounting Systems, Yesaya brings an analytical clarity to creative work. This structured mindset allows him to manage complex production workflows, combining creative vision with strategic planning in both photography and video projects. His eye for design has also been recognized internationally, including a third-place award in a global logo design competition held in France. Guided by the values of integrity, growth, excellence, and generosity, Yesaya approaches each project with care and curiosity. He has contributed to some Christian community-based creative initiatives by mentoring volunteers, reviving inactive teams, and establishing sustainable systems that empower others. At the heart of his work is a quiet pursuit to to uncover the deeper layers that often goes unseen. Whether through still images or motion, he seeks to tell stories that invite reflection and express identity, culture, and presence with sincerity. Participating in the ReFocus Award is not about showcasing perfection, nor to impress but to express by sharing work shaped by attention, sincerity, and purpose. Photography continues to teach him to see more clearly, to truly listen, and to be profoundly present with the world around him that often moves too fast.
