About Artist
Morad Bouchakour
Growing up in the shadow of my parents’ war trauma, I learned early on to read the people around me. In my photography, this reveals itself most clearly in the fleeting, invisible moments when someone briefly steps away from the world—the “in-between moments” when the façade slips, control gives way, and vulnerability surfaces. It is precisely there, in that suspended instant, that another kind of truth becomes tangible: layered, resonant, and powerful—just as I believe every human being is, at their core. I strive for a visual language in which humor, empathy, and tension co-exist, and where the ordinary gains a quiet urgency. Through photography, education, exhibitions, and my roles in cultural leadership, I hope to contribute to a process in which people can recognize themselves, find reflection, and (re)claim their worth within a broader social, cultural, and human context. This approach touches on themes of identity, representation, memory, and human connection—and serves as both a moral and aesthetic compass in all my work and collaborations.
