Juleah Claar (Leah) is an American freelance photographer based in Switzerland, working with both digital and 35mm film. With a background in anthropology and project management, she spent a decade in the corporate world before returning to photography in 2016. Her work focuses mainly on street scenes, the beauty of nature, and cultural traditions, blending raw human moments with artistic storytelling. Leah’s images have been featured on a Times Square billboard in New York City, exhibited in galleries, published in books and magazines, and shared across more than 170 tourism and social media platforms. Her work has earned recognition from the International Photography Awards (IPA), Nexus International Photography Awards (NIPA), Top Photo Awards (TPA), FotoSlovo Awards, Teravarna, Swiss Photo Club Awards, Le Prix de la Photographie Paris (PX3), Urban Photo Awards, Pure Street Photography, Women Street Photographers, and the ReFocus Awards. She has been interviewed by Pure Street Photography and Visual Art Journal, and in 2025, she launched the #ClaarRawEdit challenge—an Instagram-based creative collaboration inviting fellow photographers to reinterpret her images in their own style. One of her photographs was also selected for an international drawing contest, where over 100 artists reimagined it—a powerful testament to the reach and resonance of visual storytelling.
