Bio

Ian McVea is an Irish-born photojournalist, fine art photographer, and photography educator based in North Texas. After 25 years of full-time newspaper and magazine work and 11 years as a full-time photography and Photoshop instructor, he semi-retired in 2025. His work has appeared in Time, LIFE, Sports Illustrated, along with dozens more national and international newspapers and magazines. His images have been displayed in art galleries and museums around Texas and at the Newseum in Washington D.C. Ian is an active member of the Royal Photographic Society, the Texas Photographic Society, the National Press Photographers Association, the American Society of Media Photographers, and the Association of Texas Photography Instructors. He now shoots mostly for himself, preferring medium- and large-format film as his medium of choice.
