Bio

I was born in 1954 in Izmir, Turkey I took my first photograph in 1970. In 1973, my high school art teacher saw my photos and encouraged me to open my own photography exhibition. I graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences in 1978. I studied political science, law, and history. I've been photographing human stories since 1970. I shared my works with the audience in 39 solo and 28 group exhibitions at home and abroad. Since 1975, I have received various awards at home and abroad. The international awards of recent years are as follows: In December 2013, I won the Grand Award in the photography contest "Learning for Life, Working to Grow" organized by the Thessaloniki Photography Museum and the European Union as part of the International Thessaloniki Photography Biennial. In 2013 and 2015, I won five awards in different categories at the “Humanity Photo Awards” organized by UNESCO and CFPA in China. In 2013, 2014, and 2016, my three different socio-cultural projects were selected as one of the world's top 100 stories in storytelling by the "Global Institute for Tomorrow" foundation in Hong Kong. In 2015, I was awarded the Allard Award given to photographers working in the field of human rights by the Canadian University of British Columbia. In 2016, I picked up my photo book called “An Endless Journey”. Between 2017-2019, I exhibited my Roman culture photography works abroad. These: 1. April 2017 "Faces of Roma" photo exhibition at Veliko Tarnovo Regional Library with the support of "Amalipe" Roma Foundation, Bulgaria 2. April 2019 "Everybody Has a Story" with the support of "Plovdiv University Paisii Hilendarski", Bulgaria 3. September 2019 "Roman Weddings" Djelem Djelem 6th Rome Cultural Festival, with the support of Dortmund Municipality, Germany In 2022 I participated in the Erasmus Youth Exchange program, which continues in Leipzig, Germany, on July 19, 2022, by teleconference, and presented a photo show of my work between 2014 and 2017, describing the plight of Yazidi refugees within the scope of their program. After the conference, I answered their questions. I was invited to the 9th Tashkent Contemporary Art Biennale held between the 24-28. October 2022 and exhibit my 12 works there.
