Stanislav Stelmakhovich is an underwater cinematographer, wildlife photographer, and expedition leader specializing in marine wildlife and cetaceans. With more than a decade of field experience, he has documented whales, sharks, dolphins, and other wildlife in some of the world’s most remote and challenging environments. His footage have been produced for and featured in projects by BBC, National Geographic, Netflix, Prime Video, and ARTE, as well as in scientific, educational, and conservation initiatives. His work has taken him from South Africa and Mexico to Tonga, the Indian Ocean, Southeast Asia, and the Russian Far East. Stelmakhovich is particularly focused on documenting whales and complex animal behavior in the wild. Working underwater, at the surface, and from the air, he combines freediving, underwater cinematography, wildlife photography, and aerial imaging to document rarely observed moments in the lives of marine animals. His photography has received international recognition and has been selected for exhibitions around the world. His image “Dolphins of the Sardine Run,” documenting dolphins hunting during South Africa’s Sardine Run, was selected as a winner of the Wildlife Behavior photography competition and featured in the Journal of Wildlife Photography. Stelmakhovich is a member of the North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA). Alongside his photographic and cinematographic work, he leads specialized wildlife expeditions and develops long-term documentary films and photographic projects dedicated to animal behavior, the world’s oceans, and marine conservation.
