Richard Bernardin is an internationally acclaimed fashion and portrait photographer and visual artist of Haitian descent, based between Montréal and New York. With over 25 years behind the lens, he has developed a singular style where the exaltation of the elegant, empowered female archetype meets cinematic narrative and the clean lines of Modernist architecture — influences that make his images immediately recognizable and globally sought after.
Throughout his career he has photographed high-profile celebrities and artists, and been commissioned for prestigious magazines and advertising campaigns across five continents. In 2024, his artistry reached new heights with the release of his debut monograph, BERNARDIN — An Appreciation for Beauty. That same year he was honoured with the CAFA Imagemaker of the Year award, and his work was featured in BEYOND BORDERS at the McCord Museum — the first exhibition of its kind in Canada to highlight the internationally recognized work of select Quebec fashion photographers.
A Canon Canada Ambassador and founder of RLVNT Journal, Richard continues to push creative boundaries while inspiring the next generation of photographers. He is currently at work on a solo exhibition and two new book projects.
