Sabrina Merolla is a press and documentary photographer, participatory art facilitator and mixed media artist. Her work focuses on the multiple displacements and identities of the contemporary world from the perspective of human and nature rights. Her personal or community-led projects aim to resonate with the lives and actions of invisible or stereotyped individuals and communities, raising questions on critical environmental and political issues.
After a PhD in China Cultural Studies and a specialization in International Cooperation to Development, she was awarded the University of Bolton-BFSLU (U.K./China) joint MA in International Multimedia Journalism, also specialising in participatory photography with PhotoVoice.
She is published and featured internationally (Blow-up, Channel 4, China Daily, Corriere Della Sera, Information, Ilta-Sanomat, Lens Culture, LDN, Metro UK, Pagina 99, Panorama, Repubblica, RTL News GmbH, Stern, The Canary, The Conversation, The Courier, The Guardian, The Sunday Times, The Daily Telegraph).
