About Artist

Donna Feledichuk

For over two decades, I've been a teacher, sharing knowledge and nurturing curiosity in the classroom. But long before that, I was a traveller with a camera, chasing light and landscapes around the world. When life shifted my priorities toward raising my children, I set photography aside, but the natural world never stopped calling. When I returned to it seriously about twelve years ago, something had changed. The sweeping landscapes gave way to a more patient, intimate way of seeing, and I turned my lens toward wildlife for good. The Boreal Forest, the last great forest on earth, captured my soul completely. My subjects, foxes, owls, bears, moose, and the elusive woodland caribou, may lack the exotic pull of gorillas or elephants, but they're no less extraordinary, and I've made it my mission to give them a voice. That work has been shortlisted for Wildlife Photographer of the Year, won Nature's Best Backyards, earned a Bronze medal in the World Nature Photography Awards, was commended in the wildlife category of Travel Photographer of the Year, and was a finalist for Nature Photographer of the Year. My images have appeared on the covers of Canadian Geographic and Nature's Best Photography Magazine, and in The Atlantic, Forbes, The Guardian, BBC Wildlife, and National Geographic España, among others. Conservation runs through everything I do. I'm a member of the Canadian Conservation Photographers Collective, donate my work to organizations like 100 for the Ocean, and write a conservation column for PhotoWILD Magazine. I'm also slowly working on a book that tells the stories of the wildlife who call the Boreal Forest home, their struggles, and their resilience. My greatest hope is that someone sees one of my images and feels what I feel standing in the forest at dawn, that it is worth protecting.
