I am a scholar in early modern Italian and Spanish cultures, focusing on the intersection between the history of science and the study of poetic and artistic discourse and practice. My academic work includes the book The Age of Subtlety: Nature and Rhetorical Conceits in Early Modern Europe (2024). I teach early modern Spanish literature in college in Los Angeles. In parallel with my academic career, I pursue photography. My practice initially centered on nature, specifically macro photography of insects and occasional landscapes. More recently, I developed an interest in street photography, primarily (but not only) working in black and white.
